Years and years ago directory submission was one of the go to ways to mean to improve your website. And if you know better now and you knew better then, it really isn't fun or worth much.

I mean, how often are you looking at directories to find a website you might be looking for. Never probably.
And without a good reason any backlinks aren't worth searching for.
You have to assess if your website that you want to submit would even belong in a directory. When you are selling bracelets for example you can't just submit a buy-bracelets.com website with the tag of buy bracelets in a science directory for example.
It has to sound good. Not just be trying to make money.
